A small web design and marketing studio in the Brecon Beacons, for businesses that would rather spend their time running the business.
Descent Digital builds websites and Shopify stores, then helps them grow through search, ads, email and content. We are based just outside Brecon and work with businesses across Wales and the UK. Every account we set up is in your name, and if a project would be better handled by someone else, we will say so on the first call.

James.
Descent Digital was started by James, who works from just outside Brecon in the Beacons.
You deal with him directly, from the first call through to launch and after. When a project needs a specialist, he brings them in and tells you who they are.
Away from the desk he is usually on a bike, which is where the name comes from.
Why we started Descent.
A lot of agencies make simple things sound complicated.
Reports nobody can read. Jargon that makes small jobs sound expensive. Numbers that look good but do not pay the bills. Sometimes even charging for traffic a business was already getting before the agency arrived.
We set Descent up to work the other way: plain answers, numbers you can check yourself, and nothing held back when you leave.
We do the climb. You get the descent.
Every project has a hard part at the start: the planning, the build, the setup and the testing. That is the part we take on.
Done properly once, what you are left with is a site that works and a clear view of how it is doing, without needing to understand everything underneath it.
The work comes in two tracks. Launch is for founders getting a new business online. Grow is for owners who want more from a business that already trades.
Small, on purpose.
Staying small means you get one point of contact who knows your business, rather than a new account manager every few months.
We work with Welsh businesses, outdoor and adventure brands, and a growing number of businesses elsewhere in the UK.
When a project needs a specialist, we bring in people we have worked with before, introduce them by name, and tell you what they will be doing.

Questions people ask us
- What did you do before this?
- Digital work for several businesses of our own and for clients, in travel, e-commerce, sport, hospitality and the outdoors. That mix means we have seen what actually brings in revenue for small businesses. It also means we have been the client in a bad agency relationship, which is a lot of why we work the way we do.
- Is the mountain biking real?
- Yes, and it came long before the business. It is a big part of why the studio is in the Beacons. Commercially it means we understand outdoor, sport and adventure brands from the inside, so if your business is in that world, you will not have to explain your customers to us.
- Do you work with businesses outside Wales?
- Yes. Clients are across Wales and the UK, and most of the work happens over calls, shared documents and preview links. If you are near Brecon or mid Wales, we are always happy to meet in person.
- What do you not do?
- Large enterprise projects, full brand identity work, and social media as a main service (we deliver it with partners when it is needed alongside other work). If your project needs someone else, we will tell you on the first call and point you to them where we can.
