01The short version
We collect what you choose to send us, use it to reply and to do the work, and keep it no longer than we need to. There are no analytics, advertising trackers or tracking pixels on this site, and we never sell or share your details for anyone else's marketing.
02What we collect, and why
- Contact form: your name, email address and message, plus anything else you choose to fill in (your business or website, where you are starting from, the services you are interested in and a rough budget). We use it to reply to you and, if you want, to prepare a quote.
- Telegram and email: if you message us directly, we hold the conversation in that service. Telegram's own privacy policy covers your use of Telegram.
- Clients: contact and billing details, and the records of the work we do together.
- Visiting the site: our host processes your IP address and the details of each request in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
03Our legal basis
We reply to enquiries and messages on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering people who have asked us something, and because it is a step you have asked for before entering into a contract. Client details are used to perform our contract with you. We keep financial records because the law requires it.
04Cookies
This site does not set any cookies, and nothing is stored in your browser for analytics or advertising.
05Who we share it with
We use a small number of providers to run the site and our email. They handle your data on our behalf and only to provide their service:
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and routes our email (United States, with servers worldwide).
- Resend: delivers contact form messages to our inbox (United States).
- Google: our email (United States and European Union).
- Cloudinary: delivers the showreel video (United States).
Where a provider is outside the UK, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We also share records with our accountant and HMRC where the law requires it. Nothing else.
06How long we keep it
- Enquiries and messages that do not lead to work: up to two years, then deleted.
- Client records: six years after the end of the financial year the work was in, as UK tax law requires.
- Server logs: kept by our host for a short period for security, then deleted automatically.
07Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email info@descent.digital and we will reply within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
08Marketing
We do not add anyone to a mailing list unless they ask to be added, and every email we send has a way to stop them.
09Changes
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes affecting current clients will be emailed to them.
